I have dreamt about my very own dog since I was a little girl. The first dogs I came in contact with were my grandparents' dogs – small black-and-white Sipsik and yellow Reku.
When I was six, my family decided to take a pet and white frizzy-coated Rambo became a member of our family. Although he was not a pedigree dog, he was a great friend. I spent a lot of time at home with Rambo during the last year before I started school and he was the best companion one could wish for. As I was quite young at the time, I do not have many memories about Rambo but I do remember that my parents had a lot of trouble trimming him as he could not stay put for more than a second. I also remember one winter when he went chasing ducks on the lake and fell through the ice. The saddest memory of all is about loosing Rambo – he was a young dog in the prime of his life when he was hit by a car. This was such a shock for the entire family, we were devastated and from that moment on my mother refused to take another pet dog.
I did not give up hope, however, and kept scrounging for my own dog. Yet for quite some time I only had my grandmother's dog to take care of. He was called Neero and he was a great friend. I have to admit though that we constantly argued with my grandma about how to raise him. Neero loved to chase cars; my grandma was unable to restrict his 'freedom' and let him run loose in the street. One day Neero was hit by a car and his first paw was broken into pieces. The doctors did their best but the paw never healed completely. Thus Neero had to walk with a paw support especially made for him. Unfortunately we lost Neero after blood poisoning when he was still a young adult. I will always hold dear memories of the time I spent with him and the long walks we took together.
After a while I was able to convince my parents to take a cat – that's better than nothing, right?! Yet I was still keeping the dream alive. I did not stop reading and learning about different breeds and one day I came across Old English Sheepdogs. I was charmed by their personal characteristics as I had always wanted a dog who would like to spend time with people, who would look for contact with the owner but who would at the same time be sufficiently big and active so that I could take him for long walks. Old English Sheepdog was just the dog for me! After some time my sister Kairi started to talk about taking a dog and somehow I had made her too interested in bobtails. This interest led us to Aire-Piret Pärn through whom we had our first real contacts with bobtails.
Yet somehow it happened so that thanks to my older sister Kertu and her husband Indrek I got a puppy before Kairi did. In September 2004 a litter was born in Budapest, Hungary. We contacted the breeder, exchanged a number of e-mails and, as a result, went to get my first very own dog Wanda, officially Greystoke’s Conspiracy Theory. It was a dream come true and for that I would like to thank Wanda's breeder Judith.
By now Wanda has grown up to be a big girl with whom we go to shows, agility practices and obedience training. Read more about the results so far on page Dogs.
The idea to have kennel Wandapesa came about when I decided to mate Wanda. I wanted the name to be related to Wanda as the honour of being the first has to belong to her. She was the one to bring me to the world of dogs and dog shows and hopefully she will be the one to take me further to breeding.
